Since we are a nonprofit organization, the NWMEF Board has, from the outset, been diligent in locating funding resources to sustain our project. The Marketing and Development Committee is guided by a long range plan for sustainability of the project. Support has been solicited from the six counties on a local level from county and city governments and local businesses. Resources have also been identified outside the region, most often in the form of grants from a number of charitable organizations, corporations, and other private funders. NWMEF Board members have made a financial commitment to the project and individuals in the region have also contributed.
We want our funders to understand that based on best practices, Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation offers a unique model for economic growth in unison with traditional economic development models and that these models are represented by membership on the Facilitation Board. Also we want them to know that we have adopted Sirolli’s worldwide Enterprise Facilitation® model because it has a proven track record in regard to success. Since our approach is grassroots and volunteer based we have the ability to work proactively to grow business opportunities and enhance current businesses from within by tapping into the passion and resources of our rural communities.

We have diverse representation on the Board and our model allows for anyone with a dream to participate and to receive advice, feedback and help to find resources from community “neighbors.” The advantage of this model is that it works by providing a personal coach to bring awareness to the client of the need for a balanced approach to the idea of business start-up, coupled with the “helping hand” of the community-wide board of advice, feedback, connections and resources tailored to meeting the needs of each client. This ensures the success of the rural business start-up or retention of a business which is struggling.
